It's not an issue on the front tires. The rear tire has issues because of spacing. If you have horizontal dropouts on your trike it is easier because you can adjust the wheel. If not then you run the risk of the tire hitting the fender, whether it be on top because you spread the fender out too flat or hitting the front of the tire because the fender is only clipped on and it has slid forward.
That being said, it can be done and I believe there are some forum members who've done it and are completely satisfied.
