TerraTrike Rider Fest Sept 20

With close to 200 riders registered, the first annual TerraTrike Rider Fest will feature a 22 mile group ride - all entirely on tricycles.

TerraTrike is the largest manufacturer of recumbent tricycles in the world and popularity has grown steadily over the past 18 years from when the company started from a drawing on a cocktail napkin at a Christmas party in 1996.

“In the past few years we’ve seen an explosion of new riders,” states Marketing Director Jeff Yonker.“ This event is a celebration of our passion for the sport and a way for us to connect with our extended family of customers. When you purchase a TerraTrike you become part of a very special club. It’s going to be fun to see that many trike riders in one place.”

Customers from as far away as South Carolina are planning on attending and will start the morning with a ride on the beautiful White Pine trail from Belmont to Cedar Springs Michigan and back. The afternoon then continues with games, lunch, raffles and entertainment at the TerraTrike headquarters in Grand Rapids Michigan.

The event is open to the general public, regardless of if you are a current owner or not. “Come to the afternoon event even if you are just curious,” states Yonker. “There will be plenty of opportunities to test ride and talk to to enthusiasts.”

Information and times as well as registration for the event can be found by clicking here.

TT Owner Creates Beautiful Velomobile with Tour II

TerraTrike owner Dave Langkamp has spent the last year and over 600 hours building a velomobile using his TerraTrike Tour II.

Dave was a designer for John Deere for 20 years and is now retired and loving every minute of it. he gets to design and build and play to his hearts content.

"After one years time and 600 hours of designing and building I officially declared at 7:00 pm tonight that my Radius T-T velomobile project is completed. It has been a long and fun process to create what you see here. For those of you who do not already know the name Radius T-T comes from radius being the rounded shape of my design and T-T being short for TerraTrike which is the recumbent trike that is the heart of the machine."

Enjoy the pictures below and check out his blog that chronicles the entire building process!

New Book Featuring 1400 Mile TerraTrike Adventure

TerraTrike is being featured prominently in a new book by author Bill Freed titled "The Pacific Coast by Recumbent Trike - The Journey Is The Destination"

"I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but at a very early age I realized that bikes are bitchin. What I mean by that is that any machine that multiples your ability to move across the earth under your own power without damaging or destroying it, is pretty groovy. . . .Although there were a few breaks here and there, my love affair with bikes continued throughout most of my adult life.  Coinciding with my love of bikes was a love of the coast where I spent the majority of my adult life. The two (bikes and beaches) go well together. . . .In retrospect, it almost seems like destiny that I would end up on a long bike ride down the West Coast, and that is exactly what I ended up doing with my good friend and riding companion, Jim Park, in the summer of 2010. . . .This book is about an adventure that took place over about a month and a half with a background that was constantly changing and all this from the perspective of what amounts to more or less a beach chair that moves -- enjoy the ride. "

It’s a great inspirational book about an adventure. It’s available in hard copy and e-book at
