Derailers and maintenance

edited October 2009 in General Discussions
Hi - what is the best way to maintain the derailers?? Should I use silicone spray to lubricate them, or sewing machine oil, or WD-40, or what would you recommend? The derailers are clicking a lot, and it may be that I need lube, or it may be that they need adjustments - how do I tell that?? thanks...

  • We suggest using high quality silicon-based lube, such as Rock 'N' Roll, Tri-Flow or Boeshield T9. Which can be used on the chain, as well.

The clicking suggests the need for an adjustment. Typically you want to rotate the adjustment barrell counterclockwise, 1/2 to a full turn. If you are unfamiliar with this procedure take your trike into a local bike shop.
