The Universal Trike Carrier (or UTC) consists of three durable foam mounts and two adjustable straps in a convenient carrying bag. It allows any trike owner (TerraTrike or otherwise) to carry their trike on the roof of any four-door vehicle safely and easily. UTC users simply place the foam mounts onto the bottom of their trikes wheels, load the trike onto the roof of their vehicle, and strap the trike down using the straps that run through the back and front doors of the car. The trike can also be strapped down to a roof rack instead of through the doors. The form-fitting, high-density foam will leave no scratches on the vehicle (if clean) and pads on the straps cushion the trike frame from wear marks.
  • Rooftop carrier for a single trike
  • Compact and light weight
  • Easy installation
  • Inexpensive alternative to hitch racks

Seems a bit expensive for 3 pieces of foam and 2 ratchet straps plus carrying bag

    Rock Solid!

I purchased a Catrike Expedition and the first accessory I purchased from my dealer was the Terra Trike Universal Trike Carrier … I needed to get this thing home after all. I opted to use is with one wheel on the roof and the front wheels on a standard bike rack for a journey from the East Coast to the running adventure along the Mississippi (I find cycling to be an excellent cool-down/recovery). It road so well that unlike transporting a bicycle, I was not constantly worrying about motion or the bike falling off on the interstate.

Rock Solid! I highly recommend this to all trike riders.

    1500 mile test
Reviewer: Kelly Mulligan from Fort Dodge, IA United States – October 5, 2013
I just got down here to Mesa AZ from Fort Dodge IA a one-way trip of 1500 miles. I bought the UTC and was not quite sure how it would hold up to a trip to AZ. I have a small 2007 Ford Focus hatch back, so I put the UTC on my rambler and attached to the roof of my car. After about 30 miles I had to tighten the straps as they became a little loose. Work well until I got to Kansas had a bad head wind the whole way thru Kansas the straps became very loose and I had one foam cushion fly off. I went back and got it. I could have averted this situation had I checked the straps more frequently. I had literally gone 300 miles with out checking on the straps in that head wind.
Everything went well after that as I checked the straps more often. But now I’m about 20 miles away from home and one strap breaks loose, it had shredded after friction from the spoke. But straps can be replaced. Good value. Worth the money. If it can do 1500 miles, it can easily do around town.

UTC – Universal Trike Carrier: Impressive!
Reviewer: BradY from BELLINGHAM, WA United States – August 2, 2013
UTC is easy to use and functions flawlessly. Able to transport a tandem Rover (7 feet from axle to axle) 100 miles in the rain at freeway speeds. Rolled the trike onto the roof but had to place the rear wheel on the trunk – no overhang past the sedan’s bumper. Would suggest Terra Trike consider providing the option of removing the seat cover instead of the entire seat frame. It would make for quicker reassembly since no tools are required. Also, shortening the straps by tying down only the wheels through the spokes and not including the frame cuts down on wind resistance. If these two ideas are tested and if they prove workable and safe, the UTC will be an even better product.

    Love it

Bought my TerraTrike Rover last fall and love it, but we were limited as to where we could ride because we had no way to transport the trike. My husband rides an upright bicycle and transporting the two on our family car was a problem. We researched all kind of ways but they were all cost prohibitive. Along came this trike carrier for $100 and we decided to give it a try. IT WORKS GREAT. The trike goes on the roof/hood of the car, the bicycle goes on a trunk carrier. It is easy to use and easy to store. I’m so glad I bought it.
